QuickBooks Tips!

"Update is unable to complete because the file QBInstanceFinder.dll is the wrong version. Please reinstall QuickBooks and try again."

Here is one bug that caused me a few hours of work! I tried to install my QuickBooks 2003 onto a new Dell laptop (2005). I kept getting this message when I tried to do the downloadable Updates.

Cause: The new Dell came with a trial version of QuickBooks 2005! I had attempted to remove it a few months ago but for some reason the QB files were not all removed.  I renamed the following directories

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit

C:\Program Files\Intuit

I then did a new install of QB2003.
I then downloaded the updates, restarted QB and everything worked!

If you find this solves your problem, please drop me an email.

Thanks and Good luck!
